[BIO] is a piece for pianist playing keyboard and piano, mapping video and a mix of live and pre-produced electronics, which works as a staged platform accessible by any pianist. The work confronts the performer with a redesigned timeline of her/his life, paying special attention to the relation with the instrument and the professional career.
Physical instruments on stage are transformed into harpsichords, fortepianos, boomboxes, interactive panels and much more, which unveils the true condition of [BIO] as a videogame, in which the performer progressively designs her/his own avatar.
The piece is a production of SWR Experimentalstudio Freiburg and ZKM Karlsruhe and pianist Lluïsa Espigolé, whose production was possible thanks to the Giga-Hertz-Preis.
